I am Doctor in Chemistry and MBA and I am currently Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Alcalá. My research focuses on different topics of Environmental Chemistry and Engineering, mainly the occurrence and effects of incidental micro- and nanoplastics, the fate and toxicity of aqueous (micro)pollutants and the biological effect of engineered nanomaterials. I participated in > 50 research projects and contracts, co-authored > 150 scientific articles (Scopus H-index 43), and supervised twenty PhD students in four universities. I'm associate editor of RSC Advances (The Royal Society of Chemistry), Nanotechnology for Environmental Engineering (Springer), Microplastics (MDPI), Toxics (MDPI), Water Emerging Contaminants & Nanoplastics (OAE Publishing Inc.), and Cambridge Prisms: Plastics (Cambridge University Press).
